How to Host  a Period Product Drive?

WITH Krystine Cabrera

1. What were the main steps for hosting your product drive?

Ms. Cabrera: For me personally, I would say collecting products, promoting the drive, and finding donation organization are the main portions. Of course, there are a lot of sub-parts under these key steps.

2. Were any challenges throughout the process of your drive?

Ms. Cabrera: Yes, definitely. I am the worst because I tend to do things myself, which made me overwhelmed by the work load, initially. But when my friend found out I was doing it solo, she said she wanted to make it their club event and pretty helped me to spread the word.

3. What were the main steps for hosting a product drive?

Ms. Cabrera: I would say it’s about word of mouth. People saw my passion and got really excited about it and wanted to join in and donate. I also collaborated with a Women's group and wrote a grant so we could have workshops next year to sew menstrual pads.

I also worked with period organizations in Hawaii (the Ma'i Movement). Also, my social work professor heard about it and was willing to make the drive participation an extra credit opportunity. This was why some of my classmates came.
